It is very important you go to great lengths to take care of your new tattoo. It is also very important you remember it is a wound and you must treat it as such! You will need to keep your new tattoo moist for the next few weeks. (you are trying to prevent it from scabbing) However you DO NOT want to soak or fully submerge your new tattoo in water. (such as hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes. Ect.) We recommend covering your new tattoo before you go to sleep and if possible, before you go to your employment for the first week. This will prevent it from drying out too much or becoming stuck to your clothing and bedding.

You must make sure you always WASH YOUR HANDS THROUGHLY before cleaning and applying ointment to your new healing tattoo, Keep in mind, germs and viruses are not just on things we touch, they are also airborne, everywhere. So make sure you wash and apply ointment a few times a day.

FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and you will have a healthy, healing tattoo.

After cleaning and applying ointment to your new tattoo you can wrap it with a clean piece of saran wrap and tape. (never leave a wrap like this on for more than 8 hours at a time.)

Air is as vital to the healing process as is the wrapping. Be sure to allow your new tattoo air circulation as well. If your new tattoo starts to break out, it is a sign (although not a good sign) that you’ve left the wrapping on too long. remove the wrapping, wash well, and re-apply the ointment. This, and the air will clear up most rashes within a few hours.

AVOID… ALL NEOSPORINS, POLYSPORINS, TRIPLE ANTIBIOTICS, ALOE and MEDICATED OINTMENTS. These products can dramatically pull color out of your new tattoo. The only instance in which you would use one of these ointments is if you have an infection or reaction to the ink. Reactions and infections do happen, however they are not common. Infection can be prevented by you, by following the directions! We suggest Tattoo Goo, Bacitracin Zinc or A & D ointment. We do provide some, however if you need more, any local drug or discount store carries these products.

If you have any questions, or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us. Leave a message if no one is available and we will return your call as soon as we are able.

We ask that you stop in, THREE WEEKS after receiving your new tattoo. At this time we will examine how well it has healed. If we think a touch up is necessary for your new tattoo to be at it’s absolute best, it is then (and only then) free. If we can get you in promptly we ask that it be done then. Or if not done at that time, immediately….scheduled.

5 BASIC HEALING STEPS

1. Wait a few hours, remove bandage, wash with cool CLEAN water and soap.

2. With CLEAN hands, apply a small amount of mild healing ointment, about 3 to 4 times a day for about 10 days. (DO NOT LET YOUR NEW TATTOO DRY OUT!!!!!)

3. DO NOT expose tattoo to sun, salt water, hot tubs, or saunas for about 14 days. After shower, pat dry.

4. DO NOT pick or scratch on healing tattoo.

5. DO NOT listen to tattoo “experts” in bars or on the streets for one month!
